About the event
Lead Faciltators: Jeremy, Enoch, & Rob
Price: $25 (includes father and son)
Physical, rough-and-tumble play between young children and fathers is a healthy way for children to develop confidence, learn to assess risk, and develop their characters as they mature into young adults. However, boys that seek out rough play or play involving physical risk are often labeled as “bad” children in schools or by society, which is exacerbated by a lack of outdoor spaces in the modern world to seek adventures.
Join us for an afternoon of bonding play between boys (4-8 of age) and father figures. Step outside for cross-generational bonding through movement, outdoor physical play, and strengthening of the boyish energy inside each of us. Sample games include tug-of-war, obstacle courses, and team-based challenges. Snacks and water will be provided for the event. Some teenagers will also serve as role models by sharing their experiences with the boys as they transition into adulthood. Fathers and other men in the community will share in age-appropriate language what they do for a vocation and what makes them feel alive to show the boys the diversity of paths available. Fathers will also be encouraged to bond amongst each other to form a support system as we step into our roles as fathers of future men.
